PALADIN HEAVY CONSTRUCTION HAS THE FOLLOWING POSITION(S) AVAILABLE:

Quality/Manufacturing Engineer-Akron, OH                                      

 Position Summary

 Develops and maintains a system to assure that all products manufactured by the company meet customer specifications and achieve superior quality and reliability levels.  The QME personnel will be responsible for insuring the quality level of all components meet or exceed all Quality Standards or Guidelines set forth by JRB.  The QME will be responsible for conducting various types of audits consisting of Customer Quality Audits (CQA) and Process Audits.  The QME will have direct responsibilities in maintaining any current calibration procedures, or further implemented calibration procedures.  The QME will be required periodically to consult with customers during claims, to obtain full details as it pertains to certain problem situations in efforts to seek a resolution.  The QME should serve as a supporting role to manufacturing as well as the customer. Responsible for the development of manufacturing processes to maintain proper product functionality as well as cost efficiency.  Ensures the engineering team and other manufacturing departments work together cohesively and is responsible for the development of equipment to aid in the manufacturing process. Also will be the contact for all AKR RLA Projects and its implementation.

 Duties and Responsibilities       

•              Work closely with Value Stream Leader to ensure a quality production program and develop, evaluates and improves manufacturing methods and Improved fixturing

•              Develops and final products to quality standards and implements a quality production program to ensure conformity of purchased material

•              Revises and updates the quality control manual to incorporate statistical control programs

•              Develops and maintains a supplier quality index, utilizing statistical control programs to assure that only high quality vendors are retained

•              Responsible to monitor or audit quality standards for virtually all manufactured products

•              Guarantee the quality of the goods their firms produce

•              Responsible to verify dimensions and physical characteristics of parts

•              Ensures that parts fit for proper operation

•              Inspections may be required at several stages of development of the product

•              Ability to evaluate defective items, reject, send for repair or correct minor problems themselves

•              Evaluation of root cause of defect for corrective actions is required and implements permanent corrective actions.

•              Develops and initiates standards and methods for inspection, testing and evaluation for fit and finish operation.

•              Devises sampling procedures and designs and develops forms and instructions for recording, evaluation, and reporting quality and reliability data.

•              Inspects received goods to ensure quantity and quality.

•              Kaizen event member, providing a working knowledge of shop floor operations and procedures.

•              Assist in identification, analysis and control of occupational hazards requiring the application of professional engineering knowledge, skill and abilities.

•              Confirm the plant audit procedures are property carried out and assigned work schedules are maintained.

•              Determine overall plant product quality by conducting and evaluation various product tests and test related to building of parts

•              Resolve major quality programs at production facilities

•              Consult with plant management and personnel on better operational procedures to improve overall efficiency and product yields.

•              Discuss plant evaluation with plant management, make appropriate recommendations and set timetable for improvement and corrections.

•              Develops standard work instructions for the quality.

•              100% inspections of shipping parts

•              Prepare plant evaluation reports and submit them to Plant Manager

•              Assist in development of special department projects and work in conjunction with Manager, Quality Assurance Services

•              Develops, evaluates and improves manufacturing methods

•              Responsible for standards and estimate production times, staffing requirements, and related costs to provide information for management decisions.

•              Transition products from product development to production.

•              Oversee manufacture of products and process optimization.

•              Design fixturing to optimize production

•              Will be the contact for all AKR RLA Projects and its implementation19. Follow company safety practices and procedures to contribute to a safe environment.

 

20.          Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Engineering Team Leader, as required.

 Educational and/or Experience Requirements

•              High School Diploma or GED.

•              Experience in assembly, welding, machining and a thorough knowledge of products and production is preferred

•              Work involves high degree of accuracy and attention to detail is critical.

•              Ability to read various types of measuring devices, i.e. tape measures, calipers, micrometers, calipers, micrometers, etc.

•              Statistical Process Control (SPC) experience

•              Comfortable working in a TQM environment

•              Process Focused and/or oriented

•              Ability to identify the major defects associated with the SMAW/GMAW welding process

•              Ability to determine if a weld meets the acceptable/non-acceptable limits based on set standard(s)

•              Candidate should have a good understanding and interpretation of Blue Prints (Dimensional and Weld Symbols)

•              Candidate should have a good understanding of Geometrical Terminology

•              Candidate should be comfortable working in a Team Work Environment

•              Coordinate Measuring machine Experience (i.e. CMM) optional

 •             Must be able to understand quality standards, methods and reporting as required

•              To understand and complete labor reporting accurately

•              Responsibility for upholding quality standards and guidelines

Human Resources Manager - Delhi, IA

Primary Purpose of Position:

Responsible to the Vice President / General Manager for developing, implementing, and coordinating policies and programs covering the following:  employment, labor relations, wage and salary administration, fringe benefit administration, indoctrination and training, placement, insurance and health benefits and employee services.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Directs employment activities, assuring that properly qualified employees are recruited and hired for company positions.
  • Contacts various sources of labor supply to recruit; interviews job applicants and checks personal qualifications against job requirements, following information supplied as to general and specific or immediate needs; refers applicants to supervisory personnel for interview and approval; investigates references and handles details of employee induction.
  • Coordinates and participates with supervision in disciplinary or termination proceedings of personnel.
  • Maintains good public relations status with the various civic and welfare organizations, and business people in the community regarding personnel functions.  Coordinates community education activities, including speaking engagements, public tours of the facilities, representation at meetings, and serving on educational committees.  Controls and organizes information / advertising for release to the media, promoting positive public relations within the community.  Sustains communication with legislators to keep current with upcoming and proposed legislation that may impact the business.
  • Develops and supervises training programs and personally participates in new employee orientation and indoctrination programs when required.
  • Coordinates the administration of employee health, security and benefit programs.  Assists employees with retirement counseling, 401(k) administration.  Organizes social events and administers service awards program.
  • Conducts research into personnel programs and activities and recommends changes or innovations when desirable.
  • Recommends, implements, and annually updates compensation program (coordinated through Corporate); conducts annual salary surveys and analyzes compensation; rewrites job descriptions as necessary.
  • Assists in keeping employees informed of all changes in personnel policies, counsels with employees on personnel policies and personal problems.  Assists in the solutions and appropriate adjustments to complaints received from management personnel and employees.
  • Assures that company employment, labor relations, personnel and equal opportunity policies and practices comply with the applicable provisions of Federal and State labor laws, including the maintenance of necessary files, etc.  Develops and maintains Affirmative Action program, files EEO reports, Vets reports, etc. as required.
  • Develops and administers employee training programs to assure maximum effectiveness of employees; develops programs of employee appraisal and review to assure that employee performance is evaluated and that employees are aware of their evaluation.

 

Educational and/or Experience Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree in Personnel Management or Business Administration and/or equivalent experience.  Should include courses in industrial management, personnel relations and psychology.  Five years plus work experience in personnel related activities.  Must have an understanding of people and their problems and a sense of fairness and consistency.  Requires strong communication skills, both verbal and written; competent organizational skills; and effective interpersonal skills.
